Sexual and reproductive ill health accounts for a considerable proportion of the disease burden among individuals, families and communities and has a broad impact on social and economic development in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region. However, information on the major determinants of reproductive morbidity and mortality in the Region is not sufficient to enable evidence-based planning, implementation and evaluation of reproductive health programmes. The framework for monitoring and evaluation of reproductive health programmes in the Eastern Mediterranean Region was developed by the Regional Office to facilitate the monitoring and evaluation of reproductive health programmes in the Region and the comprehensive assessment of national reproductive health strategies and programme implementation
